1. COASTAL WALKS IN NORTH DEVON

North Devon is full of stunningly picturesque walks from beautiful coastal routes to hearty moorland treks, North Devon is the perfect place to escape the stresses of daily life and relax. 2. TAKE TO THE WAVES, OR WANDER ALONG THE BEACH

Offering some of the best beaches in the South West, North Devon is home to an array sandy stretches and rocky coves. 

And, if you’re into surfing, North Devon possesses some of the best surfing spots in the world with the nearby Lynmouth beach home to one of the UK’s premier point breaks. Watch for dolphins in the swell, and admire the stunning high cliffs backing the shingle stretch below – rarely busy, this is a must-visit for Fido with the beach dog friendly year round. 

Other highlights include Backlands Beach, Wringcliff, Lee Abbey, Woody Bay and Heddon’s Mouth. 

 

 

   

3. PLAN A DAY OUT WITH ALL THE FAMILY

Plan a day our for all the family to enjoy. While we’ve already touched on the Cliff Railway, the fun doesn’t stop there.

Exmoor Zoo, home to the affectionately known Exmoor Beast, is a wonderful way to spend quality time together. Focusing on conservation and education, the zoo provides insight to some of the world’s most vulnerable and endangered species. With a café on site too, it’s a great day out full of wonder and fun.

 

   

 

4. TRAVEL BACK IN TIME

North Devon offers a fantastic array of local heritage sites and historic wonders that are guaranteed to inspire…

Spend the day meandering between the twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth, discovering their retained Victorian charm. While in Lynton town, be sure to pop by the museum – one of the oldest buildings, there’s a great collection of agricultural and domestic tools from Lynton and Exmoor’s past. 

While in the area, be sure to take a trip on the Cliff Railway. The highest and steepest funicular railway in the world, and totally water-powered, it provides spectacular views out over the Bristol Channel. 

A few miles down the road in either direction, pay a visit to two impressive National Trust properties – Dunster Castle and Watermill, or the stunning Arlington Court
